What types of scholarships are offered by Wild Rivers Community Foundation?

We offer over one hundred scholarships with a wide range of criteria. We encourage you to apply to discover what opportunities are waiting for you. We offer funds based on academics, merit, destination, financial need, and interests.

How many scholarships are offered by Wild Rivers Community Foundation?

Each year we award over $600,000 to over 250 students.

When are scholarships available?

Scholarships are available via our online application between mid-January and early March.

Will you accept late applications?

We cannot accept late applications. There are no exceptions. If you miss the deadline please check back in one to two weeks. We re-advertise any scholarships that didn’t receive applications.

Are there any other scholarships?

Yes! Please like us on Facebook and check our website regularly for any other scholarship opportunities.

Who can apply?

High school seniors and current college students are welcome to apply.

How are the scholarship applications evaluated?

Scholarship awards are decided by scholarship committees. The committees are made up of respected individuals in the community.

How much does it cost to apply?

Applying for our scholarships is free!

What if I’m attending a college outside of Humboldt/Del Norte?

You’re still eligible to apply! We have several scholarships that don’t consider a student’s destination/college of choice.

I’m not a straight A student. Am I still eligible?

Absolutely! We have scholarship opportunities that are based on merit, financial need, attendance at specific high school or colleges, community service, etc. We have many scholarships that don’t consider GPA.

I don’t qualify for financial aid. Am I still eligible?

Yes, we have many merit based scholarships that don’t consider financial need.

Where do I apply?

The application will become available in mid-January and close in early March of each year on our online application system.

When will I be notified about the outcome of my application?

High school seniors will be notified at their Senior Award Nights, current college students will be notified in mid-June.

If I’m selected for a scholarship, how much will I receive?

The scholarship awards vary in size depending on the availability of the fund and the discretion of the scholarship Committees.

Do I receive the scholarship check directly?

Scholarship checks are mailed directly to your college or university. The funds will be credited to your student account.

If I change schools, will my scholarship be re-routed to my new school?

Certain scholarships are limited to specific colleges and universities. If you change schools, we will determine if your award can be re-routed.

If I already have funding for this school year, can I defer my scholarship to next year?

All deferment requests must be sent to the Scholarship Program Manager and will be decided on a case-by-case bases. There is no guarantee that a deferment will be granted.
